The Bible instructs Christians to "Let the Word of Christ richly dwell
within you, with all wisdom and teaching and admonishing one another
with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in
your hearts to God" (Colossians 3:16). This wonderful exhortation
emphasizes the importance of Christian music in the life of the
believer.
A few verses later, Paul further encourages the Colossians: "Whatever
you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than men;"
(Colossians 3:23). This instruction leads to our music ministry motto:
"Excellence - for the sake of the Gospel."
The heart and soul of our music ministry are the Sanctuary Choir and
Orchestra. These two groups are open to believers from ages 15 - 150.
The Sanctuary Choir, Orchestra, Praise Team, and Handbell Choir are our
primary worship leading groups. Occasionally, we are led in worship by
our own bluegrass band - "The Gospel Grass," or our Youth Choir.
The music ministry also offers music education opportunities for
children age 3 - 5th grade. These groups meet through the school year
at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evenings. Our 2nd - 5th grade Choir presents
two musicals a year.
